Do you travel?

show

Yes I do! Having your hair stylist and makeup artist come to you will save you the hassle of getting your wedding party shuffled around all morning and save time so you can spend more time enjoying their company. I can come to the church, hotel, your hairdressers salon (with their permission), your home, or wherever you are most comfortable and is the most convenient for you and your wedding party!

On my wedding day, when do you arrive and how long will it take?

show

Timings can vary depending on your booking and my availability. If you have booked me in for just makeup applications before your ceremony, I calculate the duration required from the information you have provided in your enquiry form and the time you would like to be ready by to determine a start and finish time. If you have also booked me for a touch up service, I calculate the time required for touch ups and work the start time and finish time into your run sheet and with your photographer. All the booking details including the time required per person and the start and finish times are detailed in your quote. Once I have completed everyone’s makeup I ensure that everyone is ready and then I will leave.

What order do you do everyone’s makeup in?

show

From my experience, it is best to have the Bride’s makeup applied last. I also advise to make sure there has been enough time allocated in the run sheet for dressing and last minute finishing touches such as putting on jewellery and shoes before pre-ceremony photos or the travel arrangements departure time. Usually the Mothers of the Bride and Groom have their makeup applied first followed by the Bridemaids. Flower Girls can can have their makeup applied when possible in between. If you have Bridesmaids or Mothers in your booking who have odd jobs or some running around to do the morning of the wedding then we can order the makeup applications around that. Once your run sheet is finalised we can fine tune the order of applications to suit you best.

Does makeup or hair go first?

show

I’ve done it both ways, and it has worked great either way. In my opinion it is best to have your hair done first if your hairdresser is going to be washing your hair, using excessive heated blow drying or a lot of hair spray and products that may get on your face. If you are going to have a fringe or a piece of hair that is going to be sprayed into place I would then suggest you have makeup applied first.

What brands of makeup do you use?

show

All of the makeup products I use are professional brands that were designed to give long lasting results that will look incredible in real life, photography and videography. I am continually testing and buying new products so my makeup kit does change quite regularly. Some of the brands I use are MAC Cosmetics, Hourglass Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Tarte Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Becca Cosmetics, Bodyography, Shanghai Suzy Lipsticks, Modelrock Lashes and Cosmetics.  Please contact me if you would like more information on my current brands carried.

What do you bring with you on the day?

show

On the day I will arrive 5-10 minutes early with my makeup kit, makeup chair and makeup light if the room is going to be dark or I cannot set up near a window with natural light. If there is a table or coffee table available it would be useful however I can manage without.

How do you keep your products sanitary?

show

This is one of the most important areas of training as a professional makeup artist. A qualified and experienced makeup artist will sanitize their hands, have clean brushes, and a tidy and clean makeup kit. I always begin applying makeup using cleaned and disinfected brushes and products. I always begin applying makeup using cleaned and disinfected brushes and products. I have been professionally trained to know how to keep everything clean and sanitary. I carry several sets of makeup brushes with me that are cleaned before each work day, and cleaned again with antibacterial brush cleaner between clients if I need to re-use a specific brush. I do not double dip lipsticks and other cream or gel products between clients, they are always taken out with spatulas and then mixed on a sanitized cosmetic palette. All powder products such as eye shadows and face powders and all eye and lip liners are wiped and disinfected with cosmetic sanitiser between usages as well.

I don’t wear a lot of makeup and don’t like the feel of wearing makeup, should i still hire a professional makeup artist?

show

Absolutely! You don’t have to feel or look like your wearing a lot of makeup on your wedding day. However, the right products need to be applied correctly to look beautiful in person and in photos and video, and last the day and night. If you don’t want to look too “made up” for your wedding, you can have a very soft, natural bridal look so you feel comfortable and look beautiful for your special day!

hide

Will my makeup last all night? What if I cry?

show

Yes! A true professional makeup application will last the duration of your wedding. My makeup applications start by prepping the skin with suitable skin care and priming products and finished with powders and setting sprays that seal in and help fix the makeup in place. All of the products I use are chosen for their water, sweat and humidity resistance with no or minimal maintenance required. For extra peace of mind I gift my Bride’s with a Bridal Makeup Touch Up bag.

hide

Do you provide a Makeup Touch up Bag or Touch Up Services?

show

Yes! I gift all my Bride’s with a Bridal Makeup Touch Up bag that includes a full sized Shanghai Suzy lipstick (colour chosen at your trial or selected from stock on hand on the day), blotting sheets and a mini lash glue. I also offer Makeup Touch Up Services for before your photo session or before your entrance into your reception. For more information on how we can incorporate a Makeup Touch Up Service into your day contact me to discuss your best options.

Should I have a Makeup Trial?

show

Yes! To ensure such an important day flows easily, and to ease any nerves you may have about not knowing what the makeup will look or feel like on the day, trials are a great way to see how beautiful you will look in advance and a chance to discuss any wedding details in person. Trials can be booked weeks or months prior to your wedding day and can include experimentation with different looks. I offer my Bride’s the option of a 1 or 1.5 hour trial. Usually a 1 hour trial is enough time if you have already researched some makeup looks you like on people with similar colouring and features to your own. If you think you might want to try on a few different lip colours or step through the application process slowly then a 1.5 hour trial will allow enough time for this. At the end of the trial I make a record of all the products we have used and take a photo of the makeup for visual reference. I also suggest booking your trial in for an event such as your engagement party or engagement photoshoot so you can make the most of your trial. I do book out quite quickly so please contact me as soon as you have a date in mind to avoid disappointment.

hide

Can I book a trial prior to booking the wedding day services?

show

Of course! But, please understand the date will not be secured until you have paid a deposit. I do not hold dates pending trial runs. To make a wedding makeup booking enquiry please complete my Wedding Makeup Enquiry Form or to book in a trial please contact me.

Where are Makeup Trials held?

show

Makeup Trials are held at my home studio. This is so I have access to all my products to create a customised look perfectly suited to you.

What if I live out of state or in another country?

show

Many of my Brides come from south east Queensland, out of state or from other countries. This sometimes makes it quite difficult to do a trial. I often hold trial dates in Brisbane where I book out a room and offer trial appointments over a weekend. If it is impossible for us to meet up in person then the images on my social media accounts speak for themselves and then creating a personalised look for you can be done through exchanging photos and discussing your look over the phone or allocating extra time on your wedding day.

hide

How many people can I bring to my Makeup Trial?

show

I suggest only bringing one other person with you to your trial if you think you might want a second opinion. More than this can make decisions confusing with conflicting opinions. I also advise not to bring children as my home studio has a lot of low lying product displays and also any distractions might make it difficult for you to get the most out of your trial time. My home studio is a very relaxed and comfortable space ready for Bride’s who might be a little bit anxious about having their makeup done or nervous not knowing what to expect. Bringing your mum, a trusted bridesmaid, friend or just attending by yourself are all common occurrences. I also take photos at the end of the trial for visual reference and encourage you to take photos throughout the day and night so you can look back on the makeup and show others if you would like their opinion.
